Logo Ideas - Practise

 - I want to incorporate the dance genre into my logo whether it be through a silhouette of a DJ/Dancer or an original image of my artist dancing.
- I want the text on my logo to be bold and colourful to complement the gels that I plan to use in my video and create that link to my website.
- I want my text to appear almost like it's moving, whether that be because it appears racey or because it slants. Flow and movement will be an important aspect of my logo.
- If i use an original image, I want my artist to be wearing black, in order to show her boldness, make the text stand out and to avoid clashes with my music video/website background. If I use a silhouette, I also want it to be black or faded black for these same reasons.

Music Video Narrative - Age, Gender, Religion

Music Video Narrative:

  • The artist is trying to promote the fact that it SHOULD be perfectly acceptable in a meritocratic society for anybody to have a relationship with anybody that they want.
  • This is designed to promote that the relationship shouldn’t be judged, irrespective of age, gender etc...
  • In my music video, I will be focusing on age as a difference that the artist watches causing relationship strains and show her distaste toward this discrimination.
  • I will use the lyrics to promote the idea that despite any different characteristics, two people cannot defy love.
  • The part of the chorus, ‘cause everytime we touch, I get this feeling’ will star the artist lips syncing to try and convey her personal feelings toward the power of love.
  • There will be mid-shots of the artist being held back by her Grandad and Mother, who do not want her to go and meet her boyfriend, this will convey the fact that her grandad is stuck in the traditional past. He will also wear a cross to further emphasise this image.
  • These shots will be in the fast-paced, most likely to the instrumental part of the song.
  • The video will end with the couple who won’t have yet been seen together in the video, finally with each other and I’ll create a flashback of all their memories that I’ll introduce in the music video and highlight by tinting these clips sepia.
  • This narrative will promote the artist as a kind, wise young adult, who’ll inspire young girls by showing them that despite their age, religion or gender, they shouldn’t be passive or powerless.
  • The main value-transference of this video from the artist onto the audience is to take chances and strive for what they believe in and that a relationship can work regardless of hurdles it faces because of society.
  • The lyrics will not consistently mirror the narrative because the song is generally lovey-dovey happy and fairytale like, whereas the point I want my artist to appear to be trying to make is that real life can be the opposite to that idealised image.

Demographics

Interests of 16-25 year old - social grade AB individuals:

- People around this age are likely to enjoy going out and having a good time with friends. For 16-17 year old people, they may go out to eat with friends after school or on weekends, whereas for 18-25 year old people, they may go clubbing on nights out.
- This is why in my websites, when I include tour dates, I may have some locations of the tour in clubs, that the older spectrum of the target audience may choose to visit on a night out. I will also include areas in which ID is not needed and under 18's can attend to include 16/17 year old people.

- People around this age are likely to enjoy shopping with friends in big shopping centres, they may go to these places in larger or smaller groups.
- Whilst it's unlikely there will be shots of shopping within my music video, I will film in Central London, which is partially known for its shops. Therefore, the interests of the age range could be fulfilled through location, as they may recognise the surroundings, which could work to flatter a culturally sophisticated social grade AB individual.

- People who are social grade AB will likely be very media literate, as they may have a high cultural capital and be familiar with films, literature.
- That's why I will include inter-textual references from specific films, I may choose to make a reference to the popular long form TV drama: Gossip Girl, as individuals from social grade AB may be able to relate to the lives of the characters, in terms of their age and resources.
- I may also make references to popular films in order to flatter the audience, because they have an understanding of the intertextuality.

Artist Website Genre Conventions

Dua Lipa's Website:

https://dualipa.com/home/

- On Dua Lipa's website, there is a large image of her covering a portion of the page, and the main focus of the website is definitely her and her songs/music videos.

- She also has a newsletter and a box that allows her fans to sign up to this. I may also add this element of a newsletter subscription box to my website, as the main aim of my music video is to promote the artist, and the use of her having a newsletter dedicated to her and produced potentially by her and her team, helps me to fulfil this aim.

- Dua Lipa's website is also spacious and not overly cluttered, which I find important because a cluttered website is not easy on the eye. I want my website to appear sleek and professional so I will also focus largely on creating a spacious layout, still including the necessary elements on my website.

- The images appear high quality and I will make sure mine appear the same, to create a professional image. Furthermore, my images will be colourful to reflect dance genre website conventions, which include brightness and boldness.

- Dua Lipa's website is colourful which reflects the liveliness of her music, and I will convey this liveliness through a colourful background. Just as there is not too much going on in her website, mine will be the same as I want the images and content to speak for itself. I will include colour in my background, as Dua Lipa has done, so that it doesn't appear bland and fits the idea of dance as a genre, but not an image as the background which may make the text harder to notice.

- Dua Lipa also has social media bars on her website and I will include them as well, because a media-savvy audience will be likely to share the website with others, if they are fans of my artist, which is assumed as they have chosen to access the artists website.
